Here we are in the last week of January and I have to admit I'm ready for some 40 and 50 degree days. However, I haven't had enough snow yet. I'd like to see one good 2 or 3 foot spanking with high winds, drifts, ice sickles and double digit below zero wind chill. I'm sure most out door workers don't share this sentiment.
What's happening this weekend?
I'll be at Hennessy's in Village Green this Saturday night January 31st.
Check my web site calendar for details!
I've begun production on my CD and hope to have it released by Spring. The studio is owned and engineered by Baird Winham. I will have several other players and singers join me on some of my songs.
There are so many great musicians and vocalists in this region. If you haven't attended any of the intimate concert venues such as The Kennett Flash, Chaplins in Spring City, Burlap and Bean in Newtown Square or The Tin Angel in Philly, do yourself a favor and check them out. The abyss of corporate music is answered at these places by the men and women who are truly singing and playing their hearts out for us all. I am honored to be associated with many of these folks and the future of music is bright because of them.
Visit Swarthmore and Springfield Music stores and let my friend Al Bien show you the latest in guitars, accessories and all orchestral instruments. Music schools are on the premises and feature excellent instructors.

Generations
My thanks to everyone who made the first night at Generations one I will remember. I was so thrilled to see folks I haven't seen for almost 13 years. Geri Smith was a wonderful guest as was Fred Miller. Most of all it was great to sing with Lisa again and to share a wonderful evening with her. You all remind me what I started playing music for. I love sharing the music with everyone who will hear it. Thanks for being part of a very special evening. Here's to a new year and much more to come.

Greetings from the gurney
I know I'm home when I get sick for over a week. Even the "bugs" in Florida are light weight unless you're talking about the palmettos which grow to over three inches. Anyway, I think I'm cleared for take off Saturday night in Kennett Square at the Half Moon Saloon. I start at 10pm and go till 1am. As always, check my web site calendar for details. www.michaelfavinger.com
How about that snow? I can't remember the last snow I had seen. We'll see if I think it's as beautiful 4 months from now. Be safe, and I hope to see you this Saturday night. Michael
P.S. For those of you who don't know, palmettos are giant roaches that fly!

Laryngitis
Hi for the second time this week everyone. What a difference one day makes.
I would have to hire some one if I was sending out voice mails instead of E mails. Laryngitis has claimed another victim and it's me! I will not be performing at Amici Miei Friday night and I'm bummed. I've received many E mails and phone calls from folks planning to attend. I'll have to wait a month before my next date there. However, there will be other places between now and then so stay tuned as I'll be sending out another E mail early next week.
On a bright note, last night I attended a concert at "The Tin Angel" in Philadelphia. One of my best friends from high school (Jeff Campbell) invited me to see his son Jeff Campbell Jr. perform with acoustic guitar and vocals. What a pleasure it was to hear this young man put his talents on the line in front of a packed house. Jeff Jr. is an excellent singer/songwriter who supports himself well with his guitar playing.
His original contemporary style introduced me to a genre of young musicians and songwriters that I'm so glad to know are out there. I was beginning to despair that heart felt music had been replaced by the cold hearted marketing of MTV. These kids are turning it around. I was honored to be there.

World Series
Hi everyone.
The World Series will resume tonight (Wednesday) and hopefully there will be no more gameus interruptus. Most of you will probably think I'm crazy but, I have been loving this Nor'easter weather. Halloween deserves this type of temperature and drama. However, maybe by the middle of February my tune will change.
I am playing this Saturday night in Kennett Square at The Half Moon Saloon. Check my web site for details. Don't forget, set your clocks back one hour before bed time Saturday night. Hope to see you there!
