My thanks to everyone who made the first night at Generations one I will remember. I was so thrilled to see folks I haven't seen for almost 13 years. Geri Smith was a wonderful guest as was Fred Miller. Most of all it was great to sing with Lisa again and to share a wonderful evening with her. You all remind me what I started playing music for. I love sharing the music with everyone who will hear it. Thanks for being part of a very special evening. Here's to a new year and much more to come.

Greetings from the gurney
I know I'm home when I get sick for over a week. Even the "bugs" in Florida are light weight unless you're talking about the palmettos which grow to over three inches. Anyway, I think I'm cleared for take off Saturday night in Kennett Square at the Half Moon Saloon. I start at 10pm and go till 1am. As always, check my web site calendar for details. www.michaelfavinger.com
How about that snow? I can't remember the last snow I had seen. We'll see if I think it's as beautiful 4 months from now. Be safe, and I hope to see you this Saturday night. Michael
P.S. For those of you who don't know, palmettos are giant roaches that fly!

Laryngitis
Hi for the second time this week everyone. What a difference one day makes.
I would have to hire some one if I was sending out voice mails instead of E mails. Laryngitis has claimed another victim and it's me! I will not be performing at Amici Miei Friday night and I'm bummed. I've received many E mails and phone calls from folks planning to attend. I'll have to wait a month before my next date there. However, there will be other places between now and then so stay tuned as I'll be sending out another E mail early next week.
On a bright note, last night I attended a concert at "The Tin Angel" in Philadelphia. One of my best friends from high school (Jeff Campbell) invited me to see his son Jeff Campbell Jr. perform with acoustic guitar and vocals. What a pleasure it was to hear this young man put his talents on the line in front of a packed house. Jeff Jr. is an excellent singer/songwriter who supports himself well with his guitar playing.
His original contemporary style introduced me to a genre of young musicians and songwriters that I'm so glad to know are out there. I was beginning to despair that heart felt music had been replaced by the cold hearted marketing of MTV. These kids are turning it around. I was honored to be there.

World Series
Hi everyone.
The World Series will resume tonight (Wednesday) and hopefully there will be no more gameus interruptus. Most of you will probably think I'm crazy but, I have been loving this Nor'easter weather. Halloween deserves this type of temperature and drama. However, maybe by the middle of February my tune will change.
I am playing this Saturday night in Kennett Square at The Half Moon Saloon. Check my web site for details. Don't forget, set your clocks back one hour before bed time Saturday night. Hope to see you there!

Blues Jams
Hi friends, this week is open for me so let me tell you about some blues jams I've had the pleasure of attending recently. Ben Singleton hosts the jams at The Riddle Ale House (in front of Granite Run Mall) every Tuesday night and Seamus Mulligans in Twin Oaks (intersection of rt. 452 and 322) every thursday night. Always a good time with Ben and friends as some of the best players and singers come together to honor the Blues. Both events have a starting time of around 8:30pm.
Also every Thursday and Friday, Joe Mabee with his endless list of classic tunes, brings back the memories at The Tavern at Burks Bend in Ridley Park.
(601 Chester Pike) I was there last week and had a great time. Joe invited me up to play a few songs and the crowd made me feel right at home. I hope to bring my show to Burks Bend in the near future. That's all for now. Till next week, Michael.

The way it was
Hi friends,
I just had a personally inspiring moment that I wanted to share with you all. When I was a little guy and my parents would get the notion to take a ride in the evening, it was always fun to get out of the house and see other surroundings. Sometimes we'd stop at the Dairy Queen or get a real hamburger at a place called Charlie's. Other times we just cruised and looked at the country side. Gas was about 35 cents a gallon then, and Dad never had anything to say about the cost. I grew up knowing that the word "cost" was usually connected to things over twenty dollars. As the cost of living increased, gas was never a measurable contributor to the discussion. As long as people were liberated and could come and go, America had it's personal stamp on the idea of freedom. The term "hardship at the pump" translates in to the loss of that type of freedom. As long as gas was reasonable, Americans could deal with the rising costs of almost every other aspect of life. The greed mongers woke up and now they're making up for lost time. We'll never know the extent of the conspiracy waged against us by our own government but, we can be sure that no one in office will ever worry about the cost of gas. I'm not truly in to politics and I'm not trying to start a revolt. I think it's too late for that. I know some of you will read this and not relate to what I'm saying because you're doing so well and I'm happy for you. To the rest I say, remember the way it was, because we will never know that simple beauty again. We have to make it happen in our own little corner by being dear to each other and caring and helping when our loved ones fall down. Keep dreaming, hoping
loving and giving. You make America great. It's my pleasure to know you. Michael
